Bentonite for the oil and gas industry
Bentonite is a highly dispersed gel-forming base for drilling fluids for construction of oil and gas, exploration and other wells, as well as tunnels and crossings. Optimal structural and mechanical properties of bentonite slurry provide effective removal of drilled rock, increase stability of borehole walls and contribute to maximum speed of facilities construction.
A characteristic feature of bentonite clay is its complete environmental safety, which is especially important in the context of modern requirements to environmental protection.
An important property of bentonite drilling mud is that it clays the borehole walls, providing their stability. When drilling fluid circulation is stopped, the clay suspension keeps the drilled rock from settling, which prevents formation of “plugs” in the wellbore and, as a consequence, accidents.
WITH OUR BENTONITE DRILLING MUD:
- Has a low sand content, which reduces wear and tear on drilling equipment;
- Possesses optimal visco-plastic and filtration properties;
- Provides effective wellbore flushing.
The following products are available for the oil and gas industry:
- Bentonite clay powders PBMB is compatible with all traditional reagents used in drilling, environmentally safe. PBMB grade does not contain polymer additives, including acrylic series, which can cause flocculation when mixing solutions.
- OCMA bentonite is used for preparation of drilling muds meeting the requirements of the world quality standard ISO 13500. Specific surface area of OCMA grade is so high that micro flakes contained in 1 kg of the product can cover about 70 soccer fields.
